Dateline: Florence Arizona, April 19, 2001

Pinal County Planning & Zoning Commission voted to recommend that the Pinal County Supervisors approve the Willow Springs rezoning request.

Three commissioners voted  that the rezoning request be denied.

Those opposed were Chairman Johnston, Hartman, and Harlan.

Prior to his vote against the rezoning proposal, commissioner Harlan turned to the secretary and said, “I, Roy Harlan, want the minutes to show that I think this is speculative zoning and is wrong.”

Those voting in favor were Acosta, Aguirre-Vogler, Dugan, Medlock, Kinyon, and Wales.

The approval of the rezoning request by the commissioners is a recommendation to the Pinal Board of Supervisors to approve the rezoning.

The Pinal Coutny Supervisors are expected to consider the rezoning request next month.
