Chain of Custody Form

This entry shows that 2 containers of the 4 containers of groundwater collected from Monitoring Well No. 5 are to be used to test for "Halogenated or Aromatic Volatiles."

One of the containers is the Original sample and the other is the Field Duplicate.

This entry directly contradicts UA officials who told the press and citizens that a second test was not conducted because the lab did not have a field duplicate.

UA officials then told the press and citizens that because a second test was not performed, the finding of toluene, a federally regulated contaminant, was not confirmed as being present in groundwater from the Page-Trowbridge aquifer.

Apparently, in an effort to bolster the story that Page-Trowbridge was not leaking to groundwater, UA officials, lead by the director of risk management and safety, returned to the site on May 17.

UA officials claim that they re-sampled the water from Monitoring Well No. 5 on May 17.

The samples UA officials turned over to the laboratories for testing, supposedly taken from Monitoring Well No. 5 on May 17, were free of contamination.

The claim by UA officials that no second test was run on the April 26 sample, is also contradicted by test reports from the lab that show that the lab did perform two tests for "Halogenated or Aromatic Volatiles," on the April 26 sample.

Test results from the lab confirm that toluene was present in the groundwater collected from Monitoring Well No. 5.

Since two tests were performed and since both tests detected toluene, the tests confirm that the Page-Trowbridge landfill is leaking to the aquifer beneath it.

Images of the test results confirming that Page-Trowbridge is leaking to groundwater are presented below.

The Lab Reports From Turner Labs

The images below are scans of the test results for samples taken from Monitoring Well # 5 at the Page-Trowbridge radioactive/toxic waste dump and confirm that Page-Trowbridge is leaking to the aquifer.

These tests were mailed and Faxed to Cliff Russell, the person designated to receive test results for Page-Trowbridge tests on behalf of the Oracle Town Hall, on Oct. 31 by the Turner Lab technician responsible for analyzing all water samples from Page-Trowbridge.

On Nov. 1, Turner Labs refused to give these test results to The Arizona Daily Star, telling the Star that permission to see the reports had to be obtained from the UA Risk Management and Safety Department.

On Nov. 14, Turner Labs threatened to prosecute Russell to "the fullest extent of the law," unless Russell returned the test results and quite disseminating them to the press and others.
